We started out doing flatwork for other contractors, sidewalks, footings, garage slabs, before taking on driveways and patios under our own name. Now most of the work is homeowners in Malden and the surrounding towns who need a slab replaced, a patio poured or a foundation crack looked at. We still do the same finish work by hand that we did when we were pouring for someone else's job site.
If you're on this page, it's probably because something's cracked, sunk, or started collecting water where it shouldn't. A slab that's heaving usually means the base underneath was never compacted right, so we pull it up and rebuild the base instead of pouring a new slab over the same problem. We saw-cut joints the day we pour, not a week later, so the concrete cracks where we plan for it and not straight through the middle of your driveway.
None of this is complicated. It is mostly just doing what we said we would do.
Every crew member on site is covered under our insurance, not just the guy who answers the phone. Ask for certificates before the job starts, any contractor worth hiring will hand them over.
Foundation work, retaining walls and some driveway replacements need a permit from the local building department, and we file for it ourselves. That's one less thing on your plate and one less way the job gets flagged later.
Old slabs get broken up and hauled out, not left in a pile at the curb for a week. We run a broom or a blower over the site before we call the job done.
The quote spells out the square footage, the thickness we're pouring, and whether we're using rebar or wire mesh. No surprise line items once the truck shows up.
We don't hand your driveway off to whoever's cheapest that week. The same guys who form it up are the ones finishing the surface.
Working this close to the coast, we deal with clay soil, road salt and freeze-thaw cycles more than most contractors inland. That shapes how thick we pour and how we finish the surface, not just where we happen to park the truck.
